‘Bioluminescent Being’ an installation part of the yearly Lumiere: The Art of Light’ Festival, is inspired by the magnificent natural occurrences of bioluminescence
found in many marine organisms, a light spectacle also known as the natural light of the deep
sea. Produced by a chemical process within a living organism, the glow occurs when a molecule
called luciferin reacts with oxygen. This releases energy, and light is emitted. Just like a jelly fish
living deep in the waters or plankton algae dancing on the surface of the ocean, this sculptural
piece that mimics the same chemical reactors that are responsible for this phenomenon,
invites the viewer to walk around it and appreciate the scale and movement that the interlocking
lines create: a sense of wonder, renewal and transformation.
